Residents and visitors across Kintyre are invited to join us for a jam-packed calendar of community rambles, nature experiences and local history events on the Kintyre Way.

On Saturday, August 9, let's stretch our legs with a 6-mile loop through Carradale, featuring the Kintyre Way’s forest trails, sweeping coastal panoramas and a stunning viewpoint over the Isle of Arran. The 10:30am start should have walkers bright-eyed and ready for a challenge.

Tuesday, August 12, takes the action to Tayinloan and Killean shore for a meaningful 4-mile beach clean and beachcombing session, co-hosted by Kintyre Coastal Network and Beachcombers Kintyre.

Cameras will be clicking on Saturday, August 16, during the Southend beaches photography walk, which starts at 10am and invites shutterbugs to capture the coast’s wild beauty.

A hop across the water brings walkers to the Isle of Gigha on Sunday, August 17, with the ferry from Tayinloan departing at 10am. The island stroll promises a peaceful contrast, with gentle paths and sea breezes.

On Friday, August 22, history buffs can head to Clachan for a figure-of-eight double loop walk totalling 4 miles. Starting at 11am, “Footsteps from the Past” offered insights into the area’s fascinating stories.

The adventure continues on Saturday, August 23, with a walk from Westport to Machrihanish, finishing at the seabird observatory. Walkers gathered at 10:15am for a journey rich in coastal sights and feathered friends.

Monday, August 25, brings another history-infused walk, this time a 3-mile circular route around Skipness, beginning at 11:30am under the theme “Routes and Roots”.

Finally, don’t miss the grand finale on Saturday, August 30, in Tarbert. From 7:30am to 1pm, the 10-mile route to Skipness offers a scenic and social trek, while short circular walks around Tarbert start at 10am for those who prefer a lighter option. The day wraps up with The Great Outdoors, a live literature event at The Gather from 1pm to 4:30pm with an inspired blend of words and wilderness.

So whether you’re fond of forest trails or hanker after historical paths or poetic performances, August WalkFest 2025 in Kintyre promises something for every wanderer. Get ready to take those Summer Steps and Walk Into Wellbeing!
