tarbert to claonaig
Tarbert is a small fishing port with one of Scotland’s outstanding natural harbours. It’s long history dates back to Norse times, and it was visited by Robert the Bruce and James IV of Scotland. There are a small range of food establishments, a supermarket, bank and cash machine, and a local bus service in Tarbert.
Distance: 11 miles. Allow 5–8 hours. Suitable for walking, running and cycling* (we recommend that cyclists check route descriptions during planning. Some bits of this section will be boggy – check OS map for alternative or adjoining tracks). There is limited accommodation in Skipness, so please make sure you have provisions with you before leaving Tarbert. We are pleased to say that the village shop in Skipness re-opened in November 2022. Tarbert to Claonaig: Map | Kintyre Map | Walk and Ride leaflet
